Futurenatural
Seamless, distractionless, laceless; the future of anatomical footwear.
"Futurenatural" is the introduction of a data informed anatomical last,
and direct molding process developed by the adidas innovation team.
Exploration
The laceless concept was first approached by studying kinesiology, taking inspiration from barefoot
barefoot anatomical support structures.
3D Development
Next, the Futurenatural direct molding process was applied as a 360˙ seamless 3D canvas.
Precision micro ribs were designed for the TPU to naturally dissolve from traction into a knitted upper.
Knit Development
The concept came to life through the development of a layered knit system built with
transformative yarn various needs in different areas of the foot.
The following samples were developed with Hua Feng Knit technicians.
Next the concept was realized through the Futurenatural 3D molding process, unifying a dual layer construction.
